About

At Top Shelf Design, we believe in helping our clients find the balance of form and function to create a home that reflects their lifestyle.

Sarah Gallop, RID

As the founder of Top Shelf Design, Sarah has an unwavering passion for Interior Design. From a young age, it was evident that she would need to create; she designed her first house at the age of twelve and never looked back.

After working her way through Marketing and Business Management at Kwantlen University College she found her way to Art Direction at Vancouver Film School. She loved creating for movies, but felt somewhat disheartened when her creations were dismantled after filming was complete. She knew she needed a more permanent backdrop for her designs and went on to study Interior Design at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She had come full circle and realized that this was ‘it’ for her.

Over the years, Sarah has been a regular contributing writer for Black Press and Glacier Media and a featured columnist for Westcoast Homes + Design magazine. She has presented on the Main Stage at the BC Home + Garden Show and the Vancouver Fall Home Show numerous times and has also appeared on Global TV, CTV, and CBC Radio.

    Sarah Gallop, RID

    Director of Design

As the Director of Design at SGDI, Sarah believes that great design should be both timeless and deeply personal. With a background in marketing, psychology, art direction, and a diploma in Interior Design from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, she brings a well-rounded perspective to every project—balancing creativity, strategy, and functionality. Founding SGDI in 2009, she set out to create a full-service firm that champions collaboration, precision, and meaningful client relationships.

Sarah is a Registered Interior Designer (RID) with NCIDQ certification and professional membership in the Interior Designers Institute of BC. She is passionate about designing spaces that elevate everyday life and finds inspiration in helping clients define and express their unique vision. Her work spans custom homes, renovations, and commercial interiors across Canada and beyond—each project rooted in thoughtful detail and intentional design. She especially values the trust that builds over the course of a project and the transformation that happens when a house truly becomes a home.

When she’s not leading her award-winning team or speaking at industry events, Sarah enjoys getting involved in her community; whether supporting local causes – such as the Delta Hospital Foundation and Delta Heritage Society where she serves as Board members, contributing to the industry with her work as the Chair of the HAVAN’ s (Homebuilders Association of Vancouver) Designer Council, or exploring creative outlets outside of design through painting or making pottery with Delta Potters.

Her dream project? A heritage home restoration that blends old-world charm with modern livability—where every finish tells a story and function is never an afterthought.

    Design is how it works.”

  • Rob Gallop, CPA, CA

    Director of Operations & Sales

    Rob Gallop, CPA, CA

    Director of Operations & Sales

With a background as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA CA) and years of experience in both business and construction, Rob brings financial clarity and control to what can often be a costly and confusing journey for homeowners.

His journey with SGDI began in 2011 when his wife Sarah (after a couple years of convincing), finally got him to leave his accounting job and come work for the company full time.  Slowly but surely, he learned the ins and outs of the design and construction industry, while applying his critical eye and the professional skepticism that most CPAs are known for.

As the first point of contact at SGDI, Rob can clearly answer homeowner questions, offer insight, and help people understand how the design and build process will unfold. Known to be brutally honest, Rob will always be up front and inform people to the best of his abilities so they can make smart, well-informed decisions for their project. His goal is to make sure every client feels supported, informed, and confident right from the start.  SGDI’s team designs beautiful homes, but it is Rob who explains how the team helps clients maintain control over their projects.

Rob believes that great design is only successful when it’s backed by strong communication, trust, and thoughtful planning and he is always looking out for our clients’ best interests—connecting them with the right people, flagging potential challenges early, and offering honest advice.

Rob’s perfect home?  A 2500sqft rancher in a quiet neighbourhood or the middle of nowhere, little to no décor in the house (which seems challenging married to a designer 😉), the simplest landscape design with great outdoor spaces – and silence. Outside of the office you will find Rob growing vegetables in his garden, expanding his network of contacts and resources, or trying to carve out a relaxing day pottering around his house or cabin.

“The biggest mistake is viewing design as something you do at the end of the process
to ‘tidy up’ the mess, as opposed to understanding it’s a ‘day one’ issue and part of everything”
    – Tom Peterson

    Roz

    Client & Office Manager

As Client & Office Manager, Roz brings both heart and organization to the SGDI team. With a background in Marketing Management from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and a decade of experience in the construction industry, she offers a well-rounded understanding of the homebuilding and renovation journey. Her insight into both the practical and emotional sides of the process allow her to support clients with clarity, empathy, and confidence as they take the first steps toward creating their dream home.

Roz is passionate about building relationships and believes that great design starts with meaningful communication. Drawn to the design world for its unique blend of creativity and business, she was inspired by the growing popularity of designer homes in the media and saw interior design as an exciting outlet for creative expression. She loves seeing clients fall in love with their homes—and thrives on bringing a little laughter to the office along the way.

Her dream home? A sunny, open-concept cottage by a lake, where she can enjoy the simple pleasures of a natural life. Outside of work, you’ll find her chasing live music, sipping coffee, or dipping her toes in the ocean.

    “Marketing without design is lifeless,
and design without marketing is mute.”
    – Von Glitschka

    Custom Home Manager

    Ignacio

    Custom Home Manager

With a background in architecture, design, estimating, and construction management, Ignacio—better known as Ig—brings a broad and seasoned perspective to the SGDI team. He was drawn to the firm by the opportunity to create homes that are not only visually compelling but also thoughtfully constructed. His passion lies in the intricate assemblies that bring design to life, always aiming for a seamless integration of form and function.

Inspired by nature and global architecture, Ig thrives on a good challenge—especially when inventive, out-of-the-box thinking is required. He believes that curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to ask questions are essential to growing as a designer. While he specializes in designing homes, he dreams of one day applying his skills to an entirely different project—like designing a car.

His idea of a perfect home? A riverside cabin where he can indulge in fly fishing and reflect on how best to use his talents in service to others. Outside the office, you might find him on a mission to “save the world” – or simply savoring his favorite indulgence: chocolate.

“Architecture is basically a container of something.
I hope they will enjoy not so much the teacup, but the tea.” – Yoshio Taniguchi

A problem-solver at heart, Sean thrives on crafting innovative solutions for even the most complex design challenges. A lifelong architectural enthusiast, Stirling finds inspiration in the details—especially while exploring foreign cities and studying the beauty of built forms around the world. Though he dreams of composing classical music, he channels that same creativity into designing award-winning homes that balance form, function, and elegance.

His vision of the perfect home? A modest, traditional character house with inviting spaces to relax, read, or listen to music—always with room for his grandchildren to play. Outside of work, Stirling enjoys biking, spending time with family, and indulging his love of video games, music, and technology.

Aimee believes that a design can’t be beautiful unless it’s functional. With a Bachelor of Interior Design from the Wilson School of Design, she has a strong foundation in design principles, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for creating spaces that support the way people live. She thrives in the brainstorming stage, when ideas start flowing, and loves when clients are excited to be part of the creative journey.

Outside of work, you’ll find Aimee hunting for treasures at the thrift store or baking up a storm in the kitchen. Kaylee

    Interior Designer

Kaylee is a vibrant and energetic presence on the SGDI team. A graduate of BCIT with a diploma in Interior Design, she is passionate about creating spaces that are not only functional and comfortable but also thoughtfully tailored to her clients’ unique lifestyles.

She thrives when clients trust the design process and give creativity room to flourish. One of her favourite moments is seeing homeowners arrive with a clear vision and excitement—then watching that vision come to life. For Kaylee, the most rewarding part of the job is receiving final sign-off, knowing the design is about to become someone’s reality.

Her journey into design began with a love of HGTV that turned out to be more than just a hobby—it was a calling. Her dream project? Designing a home for Chad Kroeger (yes, really!). Kaylee’s personal aesthetic leans toward a warm, modern farmhouse in the countryside, complete with soft textures, flowing drapery, and sage green kitchen cabinets.

Outside the studio, you’ll find her camping at the lakeside with her young family, exploring local parks, or enjoying the quiet comforts of a cozy weekend at home.

She’s currently working toward her NCIDQ certification, always eager to expand her expertise, especially in building and architectural processes.

Her perfect home would be a transitional rancher on an acreage, filled with custom millwork, wall treatments, and a palette of soft blues and greens. When she’s not designing, she’s likely kayaking, hiking, or enjoying a brewery in the summer—or curled up by the fire with a movie in the colder months. • Mildred Grace

    The Alarm

    Mildred Grace

    The Alarm

The baby of the group; ‘Millie’ can almost always be found in Rob’s office, or anywhere else in the office Rob happens to be – she’s like a shadow, always right behind her Dad.

Millie packs a punch; knows for her potent farts, and her prominent underbite – she is a unique girl. If you hear a dog bark – it’s probably her.  She can hear a pin drop and is always on high alert protecting the team. She still has puppy energy and will barrel towards you like bowling ball; she doesn’t sit still for a second – well, unless she is ripping apart a dog bed.

In the evenings she is a sweet and lovely dog; during the day she is a cute, stinky, hyperactive tornado.

  • Moira Rose

    The Good One

    Moira Rose

    The Good One

A sweetheart of a bulldog!  Moira is a super friendly girl who likes to make friends around the office.  Lots of things are scary though, so she can be easily spooked – a pencil falling off a desk, a door closing, or a random box that is on the ground in the hallway – all equally terrifying.

Her brute strength is matched only by her stubbornness.  Moira loves getting pets from anyone and everyone whenever she can and will lick you to death if given the opportunity.

She likes to make her rounds and check in on the team but can generally be found sleeping in Sarah or Rob’s office snoring very, VERY loudly.
